Once you receive your gloves, the first step is to remove the plastic from the palms! An easy method to get the plastic off is to use water. Take the gloves and run them under lukewarm water for 60 seconds- the water will get in between the latex and plastic and make it easy to remove!
After you have removed all the plastic from the palms, you can prewash your gloves! Keep the gloves under lukewarm water, and wring them out a few times to activate the "tacky" chemicals in the latex. After a few minutes of this process, wring them out a final time to get all the excess water out.
After the prewash, you will need to dry your gloves. The easiest way to dry your gloves is to either hang dry them inside or to put them on a NO-HEAT boot dryer. Glove Latex does not like heat, so make sure you don't hang dry them in heat or the Sun, because heat will damage the latex.
You should wash your gloves at least once a week or every 3-5 uses to keep the latex fresh and tacky. Washing your gloves often will ensure that they last longer and will also keep them from smelling bad!
1. Immerse the glove in lukewarm water and wring it out a couple times to get rid of the initial dirt.
2. Put a quarter size of Glove Wash on each palm.
3. Work it in on the palm and fingers thoroughly, rinsing occasionally.
4. Add same amount of Glove Wash inside the glove and continue to work it in and rinse.
5. Continue to work it in and rinse the glove until no more bubbles.
6. Wring the gloves dry until all the excess water is out of the glove.
7. Hang dry out of the Sun or heat or dry with a NO HEAT boot dryer.
Glove Latex is designed to wear, so don't panic if you see wear & tear on your first couple of uses. Gloves will pickup nicks and cuts from the field, that's just part of the game! If you take proper care of your gloves, they will continue to stay tacky even if the palms start to get a bit worn down. We suggest keeping a second pair of gloves to use either for training or as a backup pair.
It is important to dampen your palms before you play. Glove latex is thirsty, and performs much better when it is damp when in use. We suggest bringing a water bottle with you to the goal so you can periodically wet your gloves throughout the game.
Different weather conditions and playing surfaces can be rougher on your latex. Summers and Winters bring with them extreme temperatures and tough surfaces, so it is even more important to take care of your gloves during these times to ensure that they can continue to perform at their highest level.
Once you are done using your gloves, make sure you are storing and caring for your gloves properly. Glove bags or glove envelopes are great tools to use to keep them separate from the other stuff in your bag. If your gloves are wet, don't leave them in your bag overnight- take them out so they can dry out and don't get moldy.
One of the most common places we see wear is on the base of the palm. This wear & tear comes from using your palms as a break or using your palms to push up from the ground. We suggest making a fist to push up off the ground, because then you can protect the the latex on the palm, so it will not wear as fast.
